Our Handmade Christmas Tags

Hello all!!

Abbie here with another blog about CHRISTMAS!!!!

This time i am here to bring you our handmade Christmas tags. These tags are what we are going to be using on our gifts to family and friends.

Let me take you through the process of making the tags...

We set out to make a few different designs just to keep our presents looking different and a few different colours of ribbon to help the cause!

Firstly, we cut all of the trees and circles out with our die cutting machine (products linked at the bottom for reference) We punched holes at the top to thread our ribbon through using a hole punch and then we moved onto the stamping!

Using our favourite festive stamp set (Filled Xmas Trees - Lil' Inker), we set up the Misti Stamping Tool so that we could make multiple trees as fast as possible. We inked the stamp with Versafine Onyx Black ink and then stamped onto the tree die cuts. We ended up using all 3 designs of trees in the set, but all of my poinsettia tags sold at my school's Christmas Craft Fair so i couldn't show you that one today. On both of these trees we coloured in the berries, flowers and fruits to make them more vibrant.

Once the ink had dried we added some extra embellishments. On one stack of trees we added the red bows (Created using Lil' Inker Mini Stitched Bow) and on the other stack of trees we added a heat embossed sentiment, as you can see, the tag in the picture says "HO HO HO".

Finally we added the ribbon and proceeded to stick the fancy gift tags to my horribly wrapped presents, fingers crossed someone has got me some origami lessons all ready for next years Christmas present wrapping!

The wreath tags were made in a similar way!

Although, I was very sad that due to limited stock i couldn't get my hands on the co-ordinating dies to go with my Woodland Wreath stamp set. So we improvised with two different sized circles, personally i think this looks pretty awesome.

So, after stamping out the green wreaths onto numerous sheets of plain card stock, we sent it through the die cutter with a slightly smaller circular die just so the circle is full of the wreath, not leaving any gaps around the edge. We then punched the hole for the ribbon and added another red bow under the sentiment 'Merry Christmas' which is stamped in the black ink again (We also did some with the sentiment embossed in gold!).

For the Bigger and more glittery Christmas wreath we got through a lot of heat embossing powder! Once we die cut all the larger circles with the ribbon holes in we went to work on the heat embossing.

Firstly the bottom layer was stamped out and heat embossed in gold and left it to cool down. Next, the berries were stamped on top and heat embossed in red. To complete the tag, the sentiment was stamped in red ink.

By the way! Always use your Anti-Static Powder Tool for better embossing results. Mine is by EK Success.
